About this variety
Kozula 132 (Solanum lycopersicum, family Solanaceae) is an indeterminate tomato with large heart-shaped fruit of 300–500 g, deep pink-red and slightly ribbed. The packet holds 10 seeds.
Fruit and plant
- Vigorous vine, 1.8–2 m
- Heart-shaped fruit of 300–500 g with a smooth, slightly ribbed surface
- Deep pink-red skin
- Dense, juicy, meaty flesh with few seeds; sweet with mild acidity, for slicing, sauce and paste
Sow into soil at 16–29 °C
Tomato seed germinates well when the soil stays in its optimum range of 16–29 °C. At 20–30 °C seedlings typically appear in 6–8 days. Indoors, cover the seed with 3–6 mm of seed-starting mix. These figures are typical for the species, not a test of this packet.
Growing on
Sow indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost and plant out after the risk of frost has passed, 50–60 cm apart. Stake each plant because of the fruit size. Give full sun, well-draining soil and consistent watering.
When to expect fruit
Fruit ripens about 80–90 days after transplanting.
What you get
One packet of 10 seeds of Kozula 132. Tomato seed typically stays usable for 4 years or more when kept cool, dark and dry, so seed you do not sow this season can wait for the next.
FAQ
Is Kozula 132 good for paste?
The dense, meaty flesh with few seeds cooks down quickly, so it suits sauce and paste as well as slicing.
How heavy is the fruit?
Usually 300–500 g, so support the vine from the day you plant it out.
