About this variety
Red Quinoa is a cultivated form of Chenopodium quinoa grown as an annual grain crop.
Sow into a prepared, well-drained seedbed when local conditions are suitable for active growth. Place seeds shallowly, cover with a fine layer of soil, and water gently. Keep the surface evenly moist during germination, then reduce watering as seedlings establish. A sunny position and good air movement are useful for steady development.
Thin crowded seedlings so each plant has space to branch and mature. Avoid prolonged waterlogging. Plants, flower clusters, and seed colour can vary with climate, soil, sowing time, and cultivation. Gardeners unfamiliar with quinoa should use locally appropriate crop guidance for spacing and seasonal timing.
The packet contains untreated seed intended for planting. Store unused seed in its closed packet in a cool, dry place protected from moisture and direct sunlight. Gallery images illustrate the expected general appearance of red quinoa plants, developing seed heads, and seed. Natural variation may occur among individual plants and harvested seed.
