About this variety
Kozula 148 (Solanum lycopersicum, family Solanaceae), also listed as Kozula 148/1, is an indeterminate tomato with heart-shaped 120–200 g fruit, red with orange-yellow streaks. The packet holds 10 seeds.
Fruit and plant
- Vigorous vine about 1.8 m with regular leaves
- Fruit of 120–200 g, mostly heart-shaped; larger fruit tend to be rounder
- Red skin with orange-yellow streaks
- Dense, juicy flesh; sweet with balanced acidity, for fresh eating and salads
Sow into soil at 16–29 °C
Tomato seed germinates well when the soil stays in its optimum range of 16–29 °C. At 20–30 °C seedlings typically appear in 6–8 days. Indoors, cover the seed with 3–6 mm of seed-starting mix. These figures are typical for the species, not a test of this packet.
Growing on
Sow indoors 6–8 weeks before the last expected frost and plant out once the danger of frost has passed, 50–60 cm apart. Stake or cage the vine to carry the fruit load. Give full sun, well-draining soil and consistent watering.
When to expect fruit
Fruit ripens about 80–90 days after transplanting.
What you get
One packet of 10 seeds of Kozula 148. Tomato seed typically stays usable for 4 years or more when kept cool, dark and dry, so seed you do not sow this season can wait for the next.
FAQ
Is this Kozula 148 or 148/1?
The earlier description and the SEO title used 148/1; the product is stored as Kozula 148. Both names refer to this packet.
Why are some fruits round rather than heart-shaped?
The larger fruit on the plant tend to be rounder, so a mix of shapes on one vine is normal.
