About this variety
Thalictrum foliolosum seeds
This packet contains 20 seeds of Thalictrum foliolosum, also known as Mamera or leafy meadow-rue. Kew recognises it as an accepted perennial species in the buttercup family, native across the Himalaya and parts of temperate Asia.
Plant character
The plant develops finely divided foliage and loose, airy flower clusters. Its light texture suits woodland-style borders, naturalistic planting and mixed perennial gardens.
Sowing
Use clean, moist but free-draining seed compost. Sow thinly and lightly cover the seeds. RHS germination guidance for Thalictrum recommends 13–18°C and notes that germination may take up to 90 days. Keep the medium evenly moist without waterlogging and allow time for irregular emergence.
Growing conditions
Grow young plants on in bright filtered light. Meadow-rues generally prefer humus-rich soil that retains moisture while draining well. Partial shade is suitable; a sunnier position should not be allowed to dry out. Transplant only after seedlings are established and protect small plants from disturbance.
Seed germination and mature appearance vary with climate, seed treatment and growing conditions.
