About this variety
Burley Green Brior Tobacco Seeds (Nicotiana tabacum)
General Description:
Burley Green Brior is a classic air-cured tobacco variety, known for its smooth, light flavor and excellent blending properties. Originating from traditional Burley tobacco strains, this variety is favored for its rich green leaves and consistent, high-quality yields.
Plant Characteristics:
Burley Green Brior grows up to 5–6 feet (1.5–1.8 meters) tall with broad, thick leaves that reach 20–24 inches (50–60 cm) in length. The leaves are a vibrant green during growth and cure to a light golden-brown color. This variety features a strong, upright stalk and produces delicate pink flowers in late summer.
Taste and Benefits:
Burley Green Brior offers a smooth, mild, and slightly nutty flavor with a light, airy smoke. Its low sugar content results in a mellow, non-bitter taste, making it an ideal base for blending in cigarettes, pipe tobacco, and cigars. The neutral profile of this tobacco absorbs added flavors well, enhancing its versatility.
Cultivation Recommendations:
Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost. Lightly press seeds onto the soil surface, as they require light to germinate. Keep the temperature around 75°F (24°C) and maintain consistent moisture. Germination typically occurs within 7–14 days. Transplant outdoors in full sun after the last frost, spacing plants 2–3 feet apart. Burley Green Brior thrives in well-drained, fertile soil with regular watering. Leaves mature from the bottom up and are harvested individually. Air-cure the leaves in a shaded, ventilated area for 4–8 weeks to develop their smooth flavor.
Uses and Benefits:
Ideal for crafting high-quality cigarettes, pipe tobacco, and cigars, Burley Green Brior’s smooth, light flavor makes it perfect for blending or as a base tobacco. Its broad leaves also work well as cigar fillers or wrappers.
