How to Grow
Sowing: Sow after frost danger has passed and soil has warmed to about 18°C (65°F). Plant about 2.5–5 cm (1–2 in) deep. Direct sowing avoids root disturbance.
Position: Choose full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Space plants about 60–75 cm (24–30 in) apart.
Water: Water deeply and consistently, directing water toward the soil. Mulch after the soil is warm.
Flowering: Zucchini has separate male and female flowers. Pollinating insects help fruit set; incomplete pollination can cause young fruits to stop developing.
Harvest
Check plants frequently. Cut fruits while glossy and tender, commonly around 15–20 cm (6–8 in) long. Frequent picking encourages continued production. Leave a short stem attached and avoid scratching the fruit.
Kitchen Use
Young zucchini can be grilled, sautéed, roasted, baked, spiralised or added to soups and fritters. Wash before preparation.
What You Receive
