About this variety

About Thull Rajma

Kashmiri cranberry beans, locally known as Thull Rajma or Kashmiri Rajma, belong to the cultivated common bean species Phaseolus vulgaris. The packet contains 15 seeds for planting. This selection is recognised by its warm tan to pinkish seed coat with darker marbling. Common beans are annual legumes and may grow as compact bush plants or longer, climbing forms; allow support if the developing plants show a vining habit.

Sowing guide

  1. Sow outdoors only after frost danger has passed and the soil has warmed, or start in individual pots shortly before the local planting season.
  2. Use fertile, free-draining soil in a sunny position. Plant about 2.5–4 cm deep and space plants so leaves receive airflow.
  3. Water after sowing and keep the soil evenly moist during establishment without leaving it waterlogged.
  4. Protect emerging seedlings from slugs, birds and sudden cold, and add a support early if the plants begin to climb.

Growing and harvest

Water consistently during flowering and pod development, preferably at soil level. Mulch can help conserve moisture and reduce competition from weeds. Avoid excessive nitrogen feeding, which may encourage leafy growth at the expense of pods. For dry beans, allow pods to mature fully on the plant and harvest when they are dry and brittle. If persistent wet weather arrives, finish drying the harvested pods under cover with good ventilation before shelling.

Store harvested beans only when thoroughly dry. Natural differences in vigour, growth habit, flowering time, seed colour and yield are expected. Performance depends on climate, soil, moisture and care. The owned legacy gallery is SKU-matched to this Deodar product; the primary bean photograph was visually reviewed for the correct cranberry-bean market class.

Seed note: Seeds are living material. Germination speed and percentage vary with seed age, storage, temperature, moisture and local conditions. Label the sowing date, keep the medium clean, and allow a reasonable period before judging the batch.

Growing notes

Review the description and our agrotechnics guide before sowing. Local conditions can change germination timing.
