This listing is for one natural cone of Cedrus deodara, the deodar or Himalayan cedar. Kew recognises the species as an accepted temperate conifer native from north-eastern Afghanistan to western Nepal and north-western India. The supplied object is a dried cone for craft, display or collection use; it is not a packet of seeds and is not sold as viable planting material.
Natural variation
Every cone forms and dries differently. The individual item may vary from the photographs in height, width, shape, colour, scale pattern, surface texture, stem remains, degree of opening and natural wear. Small chips, loose scales, plant dust or asymmetry may be present. These are normal characteristics of a real botanical object rather than defects in a factory-made component.
Suggested uses
The cone can be used in floral arrangements, wreaths, seasonal displays, nature tables, still-life styling, educational collections, collage and mixed-media work. Handle it gently and use it dry. If combining the cone with glue, wire, paint, resin, candles or another material, test the method first and follow the safety instructions for those products.
Care and safety
Store the cone in a dry, ventilated place away from damp, strong heat, open flame and prolonged direct sunlight. It is not intended for eating, tea, supplements, medicine, skincare, incense, animal use or children's unsupervised play.
