Agricultural technology for growing lotus seeds
Lotus is an aquatic plant that belongs to the Lotus family. Lotus is an ornamental plant that is used for landscaping ponds.
Lotus can be grown in a variety of climate zones, but it grows best in regions with warm climates.

1. Variety selection
When choosing a lotus variety, you need to consider the following factors:
- Purpose of cultivation. For cultivation as an ornamental plant, varieties with large and beautiful flowers are selected.
- Size. Lotus can be dwarf, medium-sized and large-sized. For growing in small reservoirs, dwarf or medium-sized varieties are selected.

2. Preparation of the reservoir
Lotus is a plant that loves warmth and sun. Therefore, to grow it, it is necessary to prepare a reservoir that will meet the following requirements:
- The depth of the reservoir must be at least 60 cm.
- There must be clean water in the reservoir.
- The pond must have a sunny area.

3. Landing
Lotus seedlings are planted in a pond in the spring, when the threat of frost has passed.
A hole is made in a reservoir 30-40 cm deep. A layer of sand is poured into the hole, then a layer of fertile soil. The seedlings are planted so that the root collar is at soil level.

4. Plant care
Lotus is an unpretentious plant, but to obtain good growth and development, the following measures must be taken:
- Watering. Lotus is a moisture-loving plant, so it needs to be watered regularly. Water the plants 2-3 times a week, using 10-15 liters of water per 1 m².
- Feeding. During the period of active plant growth, 2-3 fertilizing with mineral fertilizers is carried out. The first feeding is carried out in the phase of 3-4 true leaves, the second - in the flowering phase, the third - in the fruiting phase.
- Protection from pests and diseases. Lotus can be attacked by pests and diseases. To protect plants from pests and diseases, plants are sprayed with special preparations.

5. Harvest
Lotus flowers ripen in July-August. The flowers are harvested when they are fully in bloom.

Some tips for growing lotus
- To get an earlier lotus harvest, you can grow it from seeds. Lotus seeds are sown in late winter - early spring in containers with water. After sprouts appear on the seed, they are planted in a pond.
- To increase the productivity of lotus, you can plant it next to other aquatic plants. Aquatic plants create a favorable microclimate for lotus growth.
