Indian Duchesnea (Duchesnea indica) is a perennial herbaceous plant that belongs to the Rosaceae family. Duchesnea is an unpretentious plant that can be grown in various regions.
1. Choosing a location
Duchesnea is a light-loving plant, so to grow it you need to choose a sunny place.
2. Soil
Duchesnea is a hardy plant that can grow in a variety of soils, but it grows best in fertile, well-drained soils.
3. Landing
Duchesnea can be planted at any time of the year, but it is best to do it in spring or autumn.
Duchesnea is planted in holes with a depth and diameter of 30-40 cm. A layer of drainage made of broken brick or crushed stone is poured into the hole, then a layer of fertile soil. The plant is planted so that the root collar is at soil level. After planting, the plant is watered abundantly.
4. Care
Duchesnea is an unpretentious plant, but to obtain a good harvest the following measures must be taken:
- Watering. Duchesnea is a moisture-loving plant, so during the growing season it is necessary to water the plant regularly. Water the plant 2-3 times a week, using 10-15 liters of water per 1 m².
- Feeding. During the period of active growth, plants are fertilized 2-3 times with mineral fertilizers. The first feeding is carried out in the phase of 3-4 true leaves, the second - in the flowering phase, the third - in the fruiting phase.
- Trimming. Duchesnea does not require pruning.
5. Harvest
Duchesnea begins to bear fruit in the second year after planting. Duchesnea fruits ripen in July-August. The ripening of Duchesne fruits is determined by their bright red color. Duchesnay fruits are harvested by hand, cutting them off with the stalk.
6. Diseases and pests
Duchesnea is resistant to diseases and pests.
Notes
- To obtain an earlier harvest, Duchesnea can be grown as seedlings. Duchesnei seedlings are grown at home or in greenhouses.
- To increase the productivity of duchesne, you can grow it next to other crops that repel pests.
