The price source uses Chukrasia velutina, a name treated by current taxonomic references as part of the accepted Chukrasia tabularis. This Meliaceae tree is native from the Indian subcontinent through southern China and western Malesia and grows mainly in wet tropical habitats. It is also known as chittagong wood or chickrassy.
Sowing guide
- Use fresh winged seed and a deep container filled with a clean, free-draining mix.
- Lay the seed flat or insert it shallowly and cover with only a thin layer of medium.
- Water gently and keep warm in bright, indirect light.
- Maintain even moisture and ventilation, avoiding standing water or a sealed stagnant environment.
Winged tropical tree seed can lose performance during unsuitable storage. Sow without unnecessary delay, keep the labelled container undisturbed and do not dig up seed to check progress. A thin covering provides contact without restricting the emerging shoot.
