Agricultural technology for growing Corchorus olitorius seeds
1. Variety selection
When choosing a long-fruited jute variety, the following factors must be taken into account:
- Purpose of cultivation: Long-fruited jute is used as a textile plant. For this purpose, there are special varieties that have certain properties, such as fiber length, strength and elasticity.
- Ripening period: Different varieties of long-fruited jute differ in their ripening period. There are varieties that ripen in 120-150 days, and varieties that ripen in 180-200 days.

2. Soil preparation
Long-fruited jute is a heat-loving plant, so for its cultivation it is necessary to choose well-lit areas with fertile, loose and well-drained soils with a neutral or slightly alkaline reaction.

3. Landing
Long-fruited jute can be grown by sowing seeds in open ground or by seedlings.
When sowing seeds in open ground, long-fruited jute seeds are sown in the spring, when the soil temperature reaches +15 °C. The seeding depth is 2-3 cm. The seeding rate is 10-12 kg of seeds per 1 ha.
When growing seedlings, long-fruited jute seeds are sown in March-April in seedling boxes or containers. Shoots appear in 7-10 days. Seedlings are planted in separate pots or cups in the phase of 2-3 true leaves. Seedlings are planted in open ground in May-June, when the threat of frost has passed.

4. Plant care
Long-fruited jute is a plant that requires moisture, so during the growing season it is necessary to regularly water the plants, preventing the soil from drying out. In hot and dry weather, watering is carried out daily.
During the growing season of long-fruited jute, 2-3 fertilizing with mineral fertilizers is carried out. The first feeding is carried out in the phase of 3-4 true leaves, the second - in the budding phase, the third - in the flowering phase.
To control weeds, manual or mechanical weeding is carried out.

5. Harvest
Long-fruited jute is harvested at full maturity, when the seed pods begin to open. Harvesting is carried out manually or using combines.

Additional Tips
- To increase the yield of long-fruited jute, it is recommended to grow it in crop rotation with grain crops.
- To obtain high-quality fiber, it is necessary to follow the technology of growing long-fruited jute.
