Tragopogon pratensis is a species of herbaceous plants from the genus Kozloborodnik of the Asteraceae family, the type species of this genus. We offer 50 PCS fresh seeds of this rare and unique herb.
The plant is up to 120 cm tall, with a pinkish-purple stem. Marginal flowers are yellow or pale yellow, approximately 30-40 mm in length, with purple-colored anthers in the upper part. The flower baskets with fruits are almost not swollen. Flowering time is June - July. The flowers open very early, before dawn, and close around noon. The fruit is an achene, almost smooth, unlike many other species.
Tragopogon pratensis grows in meadows, forest clearings, on the edges, margins of fields, near roads, in temperate climates with moderate temperatures and rainfall.
Tragopogon pratensis has been used in traditional medicine for its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. The plant is also a valuable source of food for pollinators and other wildlife. In some cultures, the roots are edible and used as a vegetable.
