🌿 Botanical Description

Houndstongue is a perennial plant that grows 30-100 cm tall. The root system is rod-shaped, with an erect stem that is often branched in the upper part and gently pubescent. Leaves are alternate, simple, and without stipules, with lower leaves being elongated-elliptic (8-30 cm long) and stem leaves being elongated-lanceolate (4-17 cm long). The flowers are small (5-7 mm in diameter), dirty red, dark purple, or purple, and bisexual.
